Hi guys,

I have a Westinghouse 42" with a DVI-D dual link input

I went to Best Buy today and by accident got the DVI-D single link cable. Will the single link cable work on the dual link input? I understand 1920x1080max but will it work? I don't wanna damage the monitor..

That cable will be just fine. The Westinghouse 42" is a single-link display, not a dual-link. For resolutions like 1920x1080 and 1920x1200, dual-link is not necessary. It DOES have dual DVD-D single-link inputs, which is where I think you got confused.

Anyway, you are good to go. :)

No... I have a new model with a NEW firmware update that included a few hardware changes.. one of which was changing from a single link DVI to a dual-link... both DVI's are dual link now.... there is no break in the pins in the inputs now. So.. is it possible to hook a single link DVI-D cable up to a dual link input and will it work.. or will it damage something?

Did you get the monitor from Best Buy? If so, plug it in and find out, if it damages something, take it back. I don't honestly see how it can damage anything, but oh well.
