DVI and resolutions

I bought an 20'' dell ultra sharp. Its arriving tomorrow. Just have a quick question. I have a nvidia geforce 6600gt. This graphics card will be connected via dvi to the dell. It wont be able to run games at very high resolutions. Will i be able to run games at lower widescreen resolutions, like 1280 x 800? Somewhere I read that dvi doesnt allow this. Can someone shed some light.

There's no reason why you won't be able to play games at lower resolutions. The screen simply won't be quite as sharp (which is very, very noticable when viewing text, but I don't find it to be as much of a hinderance when playing games).
