Hey everyone,

I have a monitor that was given to me that has a dvi input, it is a 20+1 pin input. I have an adapter for my vga cable that is 20+5. Initially it doesn't seem like the 20+5 adapter will fit into the 20+1 monitor. Is this correct? I tried pushing it in but it didn't seem to work. I didn't force it though because I didn't want to break anything.

thanks!

That monitor has a DVI-D input, only a DVI-D cable will fit and it will only accept a digital signal.

If you are using an a VGA->DVI adaptor this will not work, those extra 4 pins present are there specifically for analog signals, there is no digital conversion.

You will have to either get a DVI-D cable or use the VGA input on the monitor (assuming it has one).
