DVDFab -- No drive found?

I just loaded up DVD decrypter and it wasn't seeing my drive, so I fired up DVDFab 5 to see what's up and sure enough my DVD drive isn't showing up at an ATAPI drive. It's in Window's Explorer, but for some reason the software isn't seeing the drive. Anyone experience this before? I've been through the options in the apps and I can't find anything that would indicate how to resolve this problem. Thoughts?
 
Bump. I think it's my drive. Now nothing is seeing it as a DVD burner.
 
Updated the firmware and the drive is working again. Weird. Ended up blowing away the OS though in hopes my Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 2.0 would work, but alas I'm back to square one with ZERO DVD-ripping tools that work.
