Make sure you get a non-spyware-infested version.
 
I tried DVDFab Decrypter and while it is very simple and handles newer protections (beyond CSS), DVD Decrypter contains a lot of useful features, like stream extraction and the like, perfect for making those Vorbises of your favourite Live Concert DVD.
 
One more question. If I rent a movie and save it to my computer, will anyone be able to detect it? It's illegal, correct?
 
Yes, it's illegal. Also cracking encryption on a DVD you own is also illegal.

Rent the movie, watch it. If you don't like to pay for each rental, get something like Netflix or Blockbuster where you can watch as much as you want for x amount of dollars each month. Great service.
