DVD region not taking

I have an MSI dvd player for my computer. The DVD region never sticks. It doesn't change the 5 times i can change it, but it is more of an annoyance when i watch a DVD because it ejects it and i have to go select region 1 again.

anyone know of a fix *cough*region hack for dvd players that don't keep their region?
