dvd player won't read vcds....

my dad has a panasonic something or other dvd player that's supposed to read vcd's.
the problem is that, when i put tv shows i record on my computer onto vcd, they won't play anymore on his dvd player. it worked in the past though.
i've tried using a standalone decoder and encoder to put it into vcd format and then put it onto a vcd using nero. i've also tried using sonic primetime, but neither method works.
any help or advice you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. it's a panasonic dvd-rv22 if the model number will help with any troubleshooting.

Try the new Nero 6 MPEG1 encoder (built into the programme..).

how old is that player? When I did a search for it on panasonic's site it didnt come up with anything.

it's a couple of years old. but it is supposed to be able to play vcds. thanks for the help and concern.

how fast are you burning the disk?some older dvd players hate stuff over 12x

The laser may be wearing down . Try some laser cleaning stuff or try better branded CD-R and slow burn speeds.
