Cd's are way cheaper for burning than dvd disks. so, if you don't need to do movie backups, stick with a cd burner.

Not by amount of data. Dvd, 4.3 gb, $1.00 each(100 pack). CD. 0.65 gb, $0.25 each (100 pack).
All depends on the amount of data you have.

I backup divx films and just recently got a DVD burner to make it easier.
I can fit 6 films on 1 DVD vs 6 CD-R's. I am using DVD's to save space and it actually saves time. 12 minutes to burn that one DVD.
To do the same with CD's takes 2.25 minutes per CD and I have to eject and put in another disc, start a new project, drag the new file into the project window, then click the burn button. Burn times are about the same, it's just the setup of each CD that adds more time.
