Apparently SuSE doesn't include the ability to play DVDs with it's install thanks to non-opened sourced code.

I've tried installing the xine (rc1 or something) but still no joy.

Any help?

When you try to play it in Xine, it should give you an error that a certain decoder is not found (some sort of DVD decription). It will give you the name of the decoder you need. To a search for it (RPMfind or whatnot). Download and install it. Xine will then decode DVDs (very nicely I may add).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that because of licensing issues and the fact that SuSE is getting more popular, it can't include those decoders in an install. At least, I think so. Red Hat has that issue with mp3's (highly licensed OS, and they don't want flak from the format's owner).

-_-
