dvd drive no longer detected

I was installing webcam drivers on my friend's Lenovo Y510 and after restarting the computer, I got an error message saying that the drivers for his optical drive failed to install or something along those lines.

The optical drive had been working fine up until that point. Now I see it briefly show up in my computer when I boot it up but it disappears right away. There is no DVD/CD drive in device manager and I cannot find a driver for a dvd drive on lenovo's website.

Could someone please point me in the right direction as to how to get the drive detected again? Thanks in advance.

Have you uninstalled the new webcam drivers? if so, has the drive re-appeared?
If you haven't uninstalled them, i would try that first.
