I can install stuff from it fine and it reads everything fine and it is detected in all cd burning applications...but it will not burn dvd or blank cds at all. It says to insert blank medium. I have tried inserting many different types of medium to no avail. It is a plextor 451S I believe. Flashed with the lastest firmware. I have tried multiple dvd and cdr media. I just bought a new mobo yesterday and have yet to try it yet. I imagine if it still does not work it must be hardware, sigh
 
You could try flashing to a previous version of the firmware, or reflashing. I believe LiteOn makes a 451S, not Plextor.
