My 2+ year old NEC DVD burner (model ND-3540A) seems to be broken. When I burn a disc with Nero it goes fine and tells me burning was completed successfully, but if I tell it to verify the data on the disc it screws up at 91%. This matches the fact that I can access data from the "earlier" parts of the disc, but if I try to open a file that was supposed to be in the last 91% I get no luck. I've tried a couple different versions of Nero and have wasted 5 discs messing with it. This problem just flared up within the past week, the drive worked fine before then.
So, is my drive toast, or does this seem like something that could be fixed or at least looked into further? It's no big deal if I need to replace it, just wanted to get an opinion or two before I placed an order. Thanks.
