I plan on buying a dual-format DVD burner sometime this week and I was wondering if it is worth searching for a burner with an 8MB cache. Is cache size really vital in choosing a DVD burner? The only ones that I found so far with an 8MB cache come from either Plexor or Sony. (Any suggestions? I'm still searching.) I have a $200 budget and I want one with a black bezel. (I really don't care if it has either 4X or 8X DVD burning speed, just as long as it has 40X24X40X CD burning speeds.)

Cache does not make a difference today,IMO. With the advent of buffer-underrun technology, buffer has lost a bit of it's former relevance.

I have an optorite 201 that has an 8 meg cache. Works for me, but it's pretty picky about the media you use.

If i were you, i would wait on buying a dvd burner now, the dual layer drives are coming out soon, and prices on the ones out now will start to drop.
