Tried to watch a dvd today only to find out that I'm not getting any audio from any dvd movies. Tried playing a movie with Power Dvd and also Windows media player and neither of them are putting out audio to my sound card it seems. I'm using an EMU 0404 so I'm easily able to see whether the soundcard is getting signal or not. Anyway, so I tried reinstalling my sound drivers and still no audio from DVD's. All other audio on my system works fine: music, movies, windows sounds etc... just not when I place an actual dics in the drive to watch...

Running windows xp. Anybody have any suggestions?

Update: Problem is little worse than I thought. It now appears that random .avi files on my computer as well as DVD's will not output sound. The .avi files say that they cannot find the approriate codec even though they have worked fine in the past. The only thing I've installed recently is software for my Zune. Tried uninstalling that to see if that may have caused a problem (dont know why it would) but still no luck. Im getting pissed... I dont want to do a reformat for something as dumb as this that popped up over night...

Installing the Ac3 filter solved the problem with some .avi files not putting out sound. It also is allowing me to hear sound on DVD's when played through windows media player. But I still cant get any sound when using Power DVD... I have no idea why this problem would pop up out of nowhere...
