Anyone have any DVD-A dvd's? I bought one yesterday..... music in full surround sound from the original tracks. Seems kind of gimicky, but it's pretty cool...

Input? Anyone have a specific DVD-A player? They work in regular DVD players with surround sound as well.

To take advantage of the DVD-As (96kHz/24-bit/6 channels), you need a player that will handle the format. A regular DVD player will only play the Dolby Digital portion of the disc and that isn't the "true" high-resolution surround sound. Most "hi-fi" DVD-A players cost like 500 dollars or more so the cheapest way to experience DVD-A is to get a SB Audigy 2zs and a DVD-ROM.

I have a few DVD-As and the surround mix is pretty good even with my tiny Altecs 5100. The instrument separation is truly astounding as in Bjork's Vespertine. Even in high-resolution stereo, it is much better than my regular Vespertine CD when playing back on my hi-fi rig (I don't have a DVD-A player but i get the 2 channel source from the computer).
