Duplicate WU issue

I'm having an issue where Stanford assigns duplicate GPU WUs to different clients. They are identical project, run, clone, gen. This can occur in the same system or across systems. No amount of deleting the duplicate WUs will help, Stanford just reassigns it to the same client when it's restarted. There is no configuration problem with my clients. They have been running fine for months. This is a random problem but it's been happening more frequently. I would like to know if anyone else has seen this and what to do when it happens?

I have seen this more and more frequently. It's usually onsies or twosies. I did on one occassion see the same WU across three different clients.

I don't always see them on F@H monitor as I only check it maybe twice a day for errors.

I could understand if Standford needs additional verification with some projects, but do we get credited for the duplicates? This never happens with the console client or the SMP clients.

I've had the odd duplicate work-unit on different clients in the past.
As far as I can tell, I've had credit for both work-units turned in.

I've found that it tends to happen if you try to download 2 work-units at the same time when the servers are overloaded.
Then instead of getting two different ones, the server kicks out the same one twice.

I think as long as each work-unit gets sent in by a client with a different UserID + MachineID then you get credit for each work-unit.

Its only when different clients have the same UserID + MachineID that only the first one turned in gets credited.

From the folding forums......

Luck ............. :D

yes you get the points for them.. it works the same way in BOINC.. depending on what project it is.. and what WU.. they require the data to be verified.. so they send out between 2 and 10 copies of the same one.. have everyone run it.. if the data is the same.. then they keep only 1 and toss the extra's.. if the data doesnt match through all them.. they just toss the whole thing... basicly makes less work for them and more work for us..
