duplicate contact checker not working in outlook

outlook 2003 sp2
exchange server 2003 sp2
windows xp sp2

the prompt doesn't come up when a duplicate contact is copied into the address book.. it just creates a duplicate, even if they are 100% the same. there is a check box "check for duplicate contacts" and it is checked.. i tried unchecking, closing outlook.. copying a contact.. rechcking the box, closing outlook.. opening again.. and it copying a contact.. and no prompt.

is there a setting on the exchange server? it works fine on all of the other comptuers, just not 1 of them.

i created a whole new profile and set up exchange again, still have the same problem..

i am downloading office 2003 sp3.. maybe installing it will kick start that function again.

sp3 did not do the trick.

is there a box that says somethign to the extent of "remember this setting in the future" that got checked or somethign?
