It's just come out on steam today, It looks like a tonne of fun, it's only like £9 too.

It's a 4player coop, tower defence/Rpg game, I don't usually get down with games like this, but recently played the ' The Orcs must die' demo and loved the shit out of it. I can only imagine this being great to play with other people.

Some Steam friend and I got the 4 pack, really looking forward to playing it today! I heard there was supposed to be a demo being released today as well.

I played the single player for a couple hours. Seems ok so far, the combat is very simplistic and feels a little sluggish. This is a game you play for the challenge and for the loot, not so much the combat.

Single player is a little grindy, I've been leveling up my mage and warrior and swapping between them to set up defenses. I'm on the second map, on wave 6/6 a huge ogre comes and pretty much smashes my defenses. Going to have to have to devise another plan to deal with him.

The art style is very nice, the ui takes cues from Torchlight. They include some nice touches like including a sell all button while allowing you to lock items you don't want to sell beforehand.

I'm sure the game is better with co-op, for single player its ok if you don't mind grinding your characters and a steep difficulty curve. I've been playing on medium so I might drop it down to easy and see how it goes.

Kind of offtopic for this subforum, but its about this same game....

i've seen Dungeon Defenders mentioned as "diablo for your phone" many, many, many times... has anyone played that version? I am more inclined to play this on my mobile, while the PC is reserved for better timewasters :p

Also heard this is one of the best/fun games to play on an android tablet, if anyone cares.

I've just finished playing online for like 4 hours straight.

It's seriously awesome. the combat is 'simple' just like 'All Orcs must Die', but it's more about the tactical aspect, and where to place traps and such/work in a team, a really deep intricate combat system would be stupid in a game like this.. not to mention the artstyle/graphics are simply gorgeous and it's just great fun to play. everything about it. really glad I got it, gonna be spending a tonne of hours in this.

I don't think that's accurate at all. It's basically a tower defense game, not a dungeon crawler. Think 3rd person Sanctum. The controls are just OK on a touchscreen (better on the iPad than the iPhone) -- virtual joysticks on a touch screen are never great. There are far better games on iOS that are suited for touchscreen controls - scribblenauts, ascension (if you like Dominion, etc -- buy this!), plants vs. zombies, game dev story, world of goo, all of the telltale games, etc. I had a decent time with the iOS version, but am definitely looking forward to playing it on the PC tonight.

If you are looking for Diablo on the go check out Dungeon Hunter, it's actually pretty great (despite touchscreen virtual joysticks).

I just got this downloaded last night and I was trying out the first mission and was nearly late for work.... I think this is going to be a new addiction.

Yeah, really enjoying it so far. Beat the first level on easy with an online character solo (Apprentice). Got to the last wave on the 2nd level pretty easy, then a huge Ogre just rips down everything and I lose. Hopefully he goes the same way, as my next try I plan on bolstering that path a lot more.

DD is very polished on the PC , its far from its mobile counterpart. For 15$ , its an incredible value!

why no invert...driving me crazy

OMG I hope your joking....

I've been looking forward to this game all week and this would be a major deal breaker. Is there a config file somewhere to tweak? I'll look at it when I get home.

edit from steam forums:
Q: Is there way to get mouse inversion?
A: At the moment only the controller supports mouse inversion, but TrendyEnt is looking into releasing a patch later this week.

I guess I'll try with a controller tonight.

well at least the controller can do invert. I cant play any other way. I dont care how fun a game is.

Update Notes:
- Fixed "no sounds" bug with 7.1 speaker setup
- Added Invert mouse to in-game options
- "Disable sound" option in Configuration tool now works
- Less online disconnections, made timeouts more forgiving

Great game so far, lots of numbers/stats/random loot which I love. Really frequent disconnects from TN servers though, so Online Ranked is almost impossible to play at the moment. I'm not sure if they fixed losing your character yet, though.

After several more hours I'm really starting to like this game. I dropped the difficulty down in single player to easy which feels like normal difficulty in your average game. Once you've gained a few levels and some decent gear you can raise the difficulty for better loot.

I will say that items make a huge difference, those that liked Diablo for the loot grind will be happy with this game. The action gets really chaotic later on, you'll slaughter several hundred enemies per map. I'll try out multiplayer some day but I enjoy the challenge of soloing the maps myself. The game is good value as I'll probably put at least 50-100hrs into it, not bad for $15.

yeah this game is becoming one of my favorites. if you guys are playing on mobile devices import your characters

http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?4686-Character-Transfer-STEAM-USERS-ONLY-GUIDE

they're working on getting cloud support so you can just use your character anywhere. BTW, there's cross play between PC's, PS3's, and mobile devices in the works...modding support too. This game is going to last I think. It's got like 16K peak users on steam.

Game looks like it could be a lot of fun. A couple friends have been playing it pretty much non-stop since release.

Still undecided as I have so many games in my backlog.

don't sit on the fence too long because for a limited time you get a portal gun and four tf2 characters (heavy, engi, medic, and pyro) as pets

should we set up a page so we know whos got the game and playing it regularly?

steam id is BrightsidE and has a zoom pic of my dogs face. there are tons of brightsides unfortunately

I picked this up last night and played for about 3 hours. Lots of fun solo but I'm really looking forward to trying out co-op.

The game does feel a bit slow at the start as your character literally starts with 0's in every stat including movement speed. By level 10 or so though you'll have enough extra skill points to boost your speed and hopefully have acquired some stat boosting gear as well.

I love that you can switch out characters between waves to mix and match each of their different defenses, but this will ultimately result in me having to level up four characters instead of just one or two. :)

Aye, I think we should. I'll be playing regularly on the weekends for the most part (until Skyrim comes out anyway :p) and would enjoy some co-op with my fellow [H]'ers.

My Steam ID is Artificiary.

Loving this game so far! It has so many excellent features all mashed into a polished product. It's one of those games you can sink hours into and not realise how much time has flown past.

The tower defense genre has been seamlessly melded with excellent character development, item upgrade system, great co-op multi, LOOT and nice visual art style similar to torchlight.

Diggin' it!

Just took a chance and jumped on this, mostly because of what I've heard in this thread. Steam ID = theto3

I would have a hard time recommending this for your phone. It's fun on your phone... for a little while. Then the touch screen controls and cramped screen start to become an issue. Also, it's not that great of a time waster due to the length of a game. You can't save between waves, and it gets to be a drag to constantly playing the first or second waves.

It is a ton of fun, but I quit playing on my phone and have been waiting for nearly a year (it seems) for the PC version to come out.

yeah its def fun when u have good group to work with. otherwise people just gank loot and steal all the mana crystals so u have none.

there are some drops specifically for a class and they should be left for that class if playing but if not then ask before u snag.

i know the guys here wont do that though

other than that its def fun

I'm liking the demo, but I can't get a private match going with a friend. Neither of us can host and invite the other one. I've tried to search for ports, but people are saying upnp enabled should cover it. I'm getting tired of losing public matches, because we have no control what the other idiots are doing.

Just bit, sounds like a good mix of genres. You can play singleplayer offline, right?

Yes. You can also play single player Online, Ranked or Open.

This game is very fun and has a lot of depth to it. So far Dungeon Defenders and SpaceChem are my favorite games of the year, tied with Deus Ex: HR. Two indies, one AAA.

Just finished about 5-6 hrs of it. Very fun game. The sell all minus locked items is a great idea for RPGs that should be implemented more often I hope. (something like autolocking certain types of items would be cool too).

It's pretty easy on easy though so I might have to up the difficulty some more. Playing only singleplayer is entertaining but I really want to start multiplayer play. Should be much better.

Just came off a 4-5h session online. It was very fun.

Well, it was fun once I re-connected after getting kicked for not having a mic. Good riddance, wouldn't want to listen to three tools yapping and complaining. Found a group of three without mic-requirement and we completed the first set of levels and beat the boss. Took me from level 1 to 11.

This game can be simple* enough to introduce to people who don't play video games often or not at all. After playing for a few hours online with my friend, I invited my wife to play some single player after he had to leave. I plugged in the ps3 controller to my computer and she was hesitant at first, but I told her she can have all the time that she needs to set up her towers (I picked mage for her, as at that time it was the only class I've played, and since I played it, could help her out). She quickly started to enjoy it, and when we beat the first level with all the waves, I had to sleep (we work different shifts). Right when I woke up, she was asking if we could play- ha. So long story short, we finally have a simple game to play together, and maybe this will motivate her to play more games with me.

*by simple, I don't mean the game difficulty is necessarily simple: it's a simple game to learn.

Finally got to play some multi-player over the weekend. It's a total blast if you have a good team and somewhat frustrating when you have a shitty or too low level team. I got to experience the full spectrum and still enjoyed the game a lot. At later levels with 4 players there are tons of loot drops so even getting a bad team through only 3 waves is never a total loss.

I really hope that they expand on the multi-player options in a future patch though. Currently there is no way to restrict the number of players, limit to friends only (no way to even set up a friends list), or enter a game's IP address. I haven't tested but I'm also pretty sure that you can't join a Steam friend's game in progress through the Steam interface.

Other than those minor gripes I don't really have any complaints about the game. I also thought to myself at one point "hey, I bet my wife could pick this game up if she gave it some time". I'd just have to convince her that it's like Sims but with combat. ;)

I got it via Amazon (steam key, only 11.99 there).

I went through the tutorial video but man, the menu in-game, how you euqip things, etc seems SO confusing and clunky.

I was supposed to get a pet on amazon, but while playing in my box there's nothing there? Do only certain classes have them?

I'm not sure about Open, but on Ranked just make a Private Match. Anyone on your Steam friends list can join your game just by right-clicking your name in Steam and selecting Join Game. You can also send people invites this way. They can join when you're in your tavern or even during a map (they won't actually spawn until the build phase.) So you can restrict just by making a Private Match.
