anyone know if you can run raid0 on 2 drives, one being IDE and the other being sata?
 
That's a good question. Which I have never thought about....

but from what I'm aware of, no.
I may be wrong though. :D
 
You could use RAID software built into either the OS or written by a 3rd party, but then the array would be non-bootable (chicken & the egg). You could also by an adapter for one of the drives and hook both to a RAID controller.
 
thanks guys/girls. I think I'll just buy another sata drive so I can run raid0 and use my 80GB ide as back up.
 
think thats a good idea, from what I understand, I think the SATA implementation at the OS level would prevent a relaible software RAID accross the two (though I could be wrong)
