I just received some Noctua case fans. They come with a 3 to 4 pin adapter. Now what's boggling me is that some adapters have only 2 pins at the molex and others have 4. Is still ok to use the ones with 2? Thanks.

Yes, it's fine. The fans use the 12V rail, but if the 4-pin adapter is able to passthrough, do not use them on HD or optical drives as they use the 5V rail as well. Also confirm the two-wire adapters are on the correct side of the molex because I've had those two-pin adapters on the wrong side and most fans do not even start up with the 5V supply.

Fans ONLY use 12v... Molex plugs support both a 5v and a 12v connection (red and yellow respectively). Therefore, some molex's leave out the 5v line from their connectors.
