Dumb Question (Socket 423 /478)

Can p4 cpu's generally fit either?

The local computer store has a list of varius CPUs they have on sale but only the celeron (478) actually mentions the socket.

Not unless there's an adapter that I haven't heard about.

BTW try to avoid Celerons if possible unless you know it won't matter for the computer's intended use.

theres an adapter, most 423 boards can take any chip on a 400fsb (even northwoods) with a BIOS flash

Virtually all new Celeron/P4 CPUs sold now are Socket 478 or LGA775. You can still find S423 CPUs if you really need one, but hardly anyone sells those anymore.

lol, their description is funny. they just kinda throw the word "micron" around and call the DIP switch "hyper-miniature"
