Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
How do you know if you're running Directx11 without installing any games? I recently upgraded to a 5770 but never downloaded something specific for DX11. Does it automatically install it with games? How does all that work?
If you've got W7 then you already have DX11 installed...it comes with the OS. If you run dxdiag from the command console it'll show up.
Backward support is not implemented in DX11, I think they broke backwards compatibility with DX10. So now the OS ships with DX9, DX10, and DX11 binaries to support any game.
Cool Cool. What about Open GL? I wanted to run the Cinebench OpenGL benchmark on the new card, but it fails for a reason that isn't made clear before it starts.
Sort of. So more or less there is a break between 9 and 10. 10 and up require new hardware to support. So If you have a DX9 card, it can only run DX9 or older titles. I can't use DX10. However if you have the new hardware it goes back to how it was before DX9 in that older hardware can support new DX versions, just not all the features. So a card with DX10 capabilities (version 4 shaders) can run a game in DX11 mode. However it can't use new features like tessellation or the like.
Also, even if you don't have a card that supports DX10/10.1/11 Windows 7 still has all the software for it. Your card just can't run apps in that mode, however all the DLLs for the new DX versions are still on the system.
