does having the plates on unused expansion slots reduce emi, or does it just prevent dust from getting in? i know not having them on doesn't cause much emi, but I was wondering if it caused any at all, and b/c the antec skeleton case, i read somewhere, isn't good in relation to emi, b/c it's open.
 
It has no significant effect on EMI whatsoever, and neither do any of the components in the case. The plates are just for show. The amount of EMI produced by a running computer, even in open air, is negligible, and modern electronic devices are designed to be able to operate under conditions with significantly more EMI present.
