Ok. I'm trying to figure out why my 3dMark2005 score is so low. My system:
p4 2.8@ 3.36 (21 x 160)
6800 gs @ (16/6 & 450/1100)
1.5 gigs RAM
I compared my score of 5189 with others and it seems lower than it should be.
Could my memory situation be the possible key here?
Here's the story. I inititally had PC3200 512MB ram. After being out of the tech upgrade loop for 4 years, I wanted to upgrade and used my motherboard manual as reference. I ordered 1 gig of PC2100 ram. Idiotic I know.
So basically since the ram is rated at only 266mhz, I wasn't able to overclock the CPU at all initially (since it starts with 21 x 133). Then I found the memory ratio thingy in the motherboard and was able to get the memory to operate at 200mhz stock as opposed to 266mhz. After a 20% over clock, the memory now runs at 240mhz. This is the only way I can overclock with my current memory configuration.
Can that underclocked memory really affect my overall performance by a whole lot in the testing? Should I try to exchange my PC2100 for a PC3200? Any expertise on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
