my 400w psu has a 20pin power connector to the mobo but the motherboard has a 24 pin port for the psu, so my 20pin wont work wiht my 24pin mobo?

and if it does, will it still give all of its power to the comp?

You CAN use a 20 to 24 pin adapter, but I (and everyone else) would recommend against it. 24-pin is the way of the future, you might as well grab one now.

I believe they have adapters that go from 20pin to 24pin, but be cautious that some motherboards such as DFI require it to be a 24pin native PSU.I dont have the link but do a google search im sure you'll find it...also you might want to try newegg.

What mobo & system specs?

So you already plugged the 20-pins into the RIGHT 20-pins of the motherboard's 24-pin connector and it still didn't work?

well there is nothing that says atx2.0 on any of the psu's that im seeing at newegg... and i dont want to spend mucho money on one, hopefully 30or less thats at leasta 400W

You are spending how much on a system....and then buying the cheapest PSU possible? The one componenet that can make or break the entire system?

The only PSU we really ever recommend in the sub 30 dollars is http://www.directron.com/sf350stainless.html and it is not ATX12v2.0 it is s hybrid ATX12v1.3 with a native 24pin.....but I wouldn't recommend it neccesarily for this system.
