I have an older system i'm playing around with at the moment that was given to me. It's an old HP Kayak system.
After looking at it, it's a 2 CPU board, but it seems one of the CPU's is dead. (locks up before POST.. CD-ROM lights stay on, NUM lock won't turn on/off)
Anyways, I took out one of the CPUS and mixed and matched them until I found out which one was defective, and got it to POST with one CPU, but get a termination card error (which I looked up and saw that you need one if your only running one CPU and also in any spare RDRAM slot... i'm an AMD guy so this was all new to me.)
Anyways, I was able to bypass the BIOS error with F1, and everything has been working fine after that. My question is will I hurt anything by not running a terminator card? I'm still quite shocked it seems to be working without one, but i'm not too surprised either, because I haven't played around with an intel-based system since my P233 MMX.
Just curious about this.. here is more info on the system from CPU-Z if you need it.
