Do 4 inch and 12 inch cathodes use the same inverters?

I just bought a set of 4 inch cathodes and one of them doesnt work so I wanted to try my spare 12 inch inverter to see if maybe the inveter is faulty
 
I would reccomend against it. Inverters are very sensitive, and can destroy themselves even under GOOD conditions. If it's a cheap CCFL set, go for it if you have the means to replace it, but I personally would steer away from this...

Using a set of 4inch cathodes on an inverter made for 12 inch cathodes is probably a bad idea, as, the output voltage required to run longer tubes is probably higher than what shorter tubes need...
 
I disagree. Performance PC's sells cathode sets and encourages you to add another 4 inch or 12 inch cathode to a single cathode/inverter combo. I'm planning on using a 12 inch and a 4 inch cathode on the same inverter soon, after I get them.
