So I bought a new lcd tv, to test it out I decide to play some lost coast on it. When I try to boot lost cost it tells me my computer can't handle it because my processor is only running at 0.8ghz! I run a x2 3800, and had it clocked at 2.53. I checked it and it was running @ 887mhz.

Needless to say I was pissed. I rebooted, nothing. I changed the multiplier setting from auto to x10 (forced), nothing. I set the fsb back to 200 in the bios and boot, the thing was now running at like 655mhz. Because that ratio stayed it really felt like a multiplier issue but I thought I had the thing set. WTF is going on?

WOW.

That sounds sucky. Maybe your multiplier isn't actually at 10? Try resetting your CMOS too see if it resets?

rig specs

amd x2 3800+\ freezer 64
evga gf 7900gt (1.5 volted) zalman vf9000cu and a coolmax slot fan
biostar nf4 am2 mobo (one possible culprit)
512 x2 OCZ ddr2 pc5400
audigy 4

news on this issue. I just got home and set the multiplier again, then set the HT to x5 ( I dont know what this really is/does) and pumped the vcore to 1.4v (was running stably at 1.35) and clocked it down to stock. It's running that way at stock 2.0ghz. hmmm

ht link multi.. sets the ht link speed ;)

at 5x with a 200mhz htt (fsb), the ht link is at.... 1000mhz! :D

just out of curiosity, did you ever clear the bios, then load optimized defaults?

I had a similar thing happen with my e6400. It said it was running at 1.6 Ghz but it was supposed to be at 2.13. I reset the cmos and it was down to 1.2 GHz so i manually set the speed to 8x multi and 266 fsb for 2.13
