I am currently working on collecting pieces to build a dual Athlon system. I will be running the mobo (not sure on what brand yet) the processors, and 5 ATA hard drives as well as a 9600 AIW and a few (2 to 3) PCI cards, (mostly video for more moniters and a gigabit NIC). Now, with a this setup on a single processor system I was having major power problems, to the point where I was running two power supplies.

So my question is, what power supply would you guys recommend for this new dually setup? If there isn't one that can handle all that, what do you suggest I do?

antec 550 eps would be a good start.

you might still need a second PSU with all that though.

Thanks fo the replies. I also have two 120mm fans I'm planning on running, as well as two 80mm. Does this change the power requirements at all? If so, by how much?

Once again, thanks.

It'll change it, but only slightly, something like 10w or so, depending on the specs of the fan. I know 92mm Tornados draw 9w a piece, but most fans are waaay less than that.

i went with the wonderfully inexpensive $88 fortron 550watt psu :)

I have 3 ATA hard drives, 2 CD drives, 9800Pro, 2500+ barton on 200FSB, IDE PCI card, 5 case fans usually on 7V.. all on an Aopen 300W PSU. No problems at all. Keep in mind that the CD drives will pull more power than an ATA hard drive.
