so i´m helping a friend of mine with her laptop, basically she had Vista installed on her lappy and then she installed XP, so now the boot menu is gone (yes i know the correct way to do it, is to install XP and then Vista) so i reckon i can fix that using the Vista installation CD, so what are the steps i should be taking in order to do that?

Did she install XP over the top of Vista on the same partition?

nop, she has two partitions, so Vista is there safe and sound, the problem is that the bootup menu is gone, so she can´t select Vista :D

Download a program called EasyBCD. It's by far the easiest way I've found to restore the Vista boot loader and add boot entries it.
