I'm putting together a dual xeon 5530 system and am considering which psu to get.

Main specs will be

2 xeon 5530
24 gb ram
quadro fx1800
several drives...nothing major here

Originally I was going to spring for the seasonic x650 given all the great reviews and the fact that it has dual 8 pin eps mobo connectors. All the other psus i've seen with dual 8 pin have been way more wattage than I need. However this seems to be out of stock at newegg and I can't find it anywhere else.

I'm considering the corsair 650hx as an alternative. The only thing is that it doesn't have 2 8 pin connectors, just 1 8 pin and a 4 pin. I've seen 4 pin to 8 pin adapters around. Anyone think there will be problems using an adapter in this case?

Thanks

The HX650 will be enough, and you can use a 4-pin to 8-pin adapter with no problems. Since you're using fairly low-power CPUs and I assume there won't be any overclocking involved, you're not risking anything by doing so.
