Hey guys, I've been reading through these forums for a while, never had a reason to make a name though until now. I figured someone might have had problems like this and I might be able to get some help.
Over the past few months I've been buying the components for a dual cpu system to use as a dedicated server for my friends and I to play multiplayer games on. I finally decided to go with pIIII 800's since they aren't expensive nowadays and I really didn't have the money for anything faster. Anyway, I got the 800's the other day from a reputable seller on ebay, they still have 10 days on there doa warrantee so I can send them back if need be. I got an Intel SLT2 Server board (P/N G7ESZ). This also has a doa warrantee, about 7 days left on that. I got a brand new voltage regulator module because I read everywhere that I needed one of these for the 2nd cpu. Anyway, here's my problem.
The system is as follows:
2 PIII 800/133/256 Socket 370 Cpus (Step code SL4CD for both)
2-256mb pc133 Crucial sdram sticks(worked when I removed it from another comp)
WD 15GB Hard Drive(worked when I removed it from another comp)
Generic 300W P/S(Worked when I removed it)
Onboard 10/100 & Video
I am currently modding the computer case so the board is sitting on a piece of cardboard when it's being powered. I have no PCI cards hooked up or anything. I can hook the p/s up and short the power switch header and everything turns on, CPU Fans, hard drive, etc, and that's all it does. I've hooked up power and hdd LED's and they remain solid when the board is on. I've hooked up a pc speaker hoping to hear an error beep and haven't got anything, there's no activity on the monitor so I'm not sure if it's even getting to POST. The power supply is fine, according to the manual I downloaded from intel's websites all the current loads and wattages are well within what the p/s can do, although I have tried 2 others (a 350 and a 300) that worked perfectly in other systems and I still have no luck with them. I have also realized that this board requires ECC ram, though I'm not getting a beep with my ccurent ram in or out of the board. I've also ordered a cpu terminator to test each cpu by itself as I have no other way of testing the cpu or the motherboard. Any ideas, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated. This is my first attempt at a dual cpu board and I just want to get it working.
