Has anyone found a loss in performance when they had a dual display going? And if so, how large was the loss?
(ie, one display for gaming while another stays on the Windows desktop)

There will always be a performance drop, as the card must render 2 images at the same time, and output them to separate DACs. The question is, "How much performance drop will you incur?" and to that, I don't know.

Would be a good one to test. The annoying thing with dual display, unless someone knows something I don't, is that you can't actually utilize the second display without your fullscreen game minimizing and such just like it was your only display.

To avoid performance loss, can't you use a PCI video card for the second display? I've never toyed with this but always meant to.

So there would be performance loss even if the card is running DVI on an LCD(main monitor, as well as the gaming monitor) and with a D-Sub CRT connected to the other port, which just sits there all the time?
