Dual Nvidia Does 21185 in 3D03

holy hell ,that is twice my system, and they arent anywhere near finished tweaking the drivers and such...wonder what processors they are running?

It would be for 6800(non-ultra) SLI assuming no weirdass, oddball artifacts related to VSYNC-OFF and more than 20K score. Typical symmetric designs with AFR and old SLI needed perfect VSYNC for proper functionality being time slice based..

Without proper VSYNC, they don't just have tearings, sections of graphics would be missing.

yeah but the current 17k is overclocked like a BITCH. this is all stock im betting. 6800U's on stock get around 12k.

I'm willing to bet it was an in-house nVIDIA's Opteron config, no engineers in their right minds do new product engineering with PCI-E prototype hardware from another company.

I certainly am not that stupid.

thats all good and stuff but i won't pay 500 bucks extra for another card just to get higher benchmark scores :p and currently there is really no reason to buy 2 cards and run them SLI and even if you wanted you can't because alienware and other computer builders get first choice ..about 6-8 months after that we *might* get a retail version but who cares? its a complete waste of money . No game not even doom 3 or half life 2 when they come out would really have to have that setup just to play at a solid 60 fps a sec. Sounds to me like it will fade as fast as the old Voodoo version did.

Would it supprise you if 6800 SLI overclock much better than all of them?

Pls dont make such a bold post unless you know what you are talking about...
Alienware uses a different technology ALX compared to what we are talking about SLI, and OEM hardware for building your own SLI setups are due out with the tumwater chipset (intel 7225) in Sept/October, which by my counting is about 3 months away.

Voodoo's SLI setup didnt fade, the company did.
As stated in other thread the great thing about the SLI setups is upgradeability, you can have a system with 1or2 procs, 1or2 video cards and lots of memory. SLI will be a success in the enthusiast market becasue of this, most people will build systems with 1 proc and video card, then when needed put another of one or the other in their system, rather than upgrading the whole computer.

yes.

i dont see them hitting crazy overclocks like the current 17k holder on each 6800. otherwise we would probally see a 30k score.

if you think about it. 21k sounds pretty much right. 12k average on one 6800U, now you put two 6800's together, and you have a 77 to 90% increase and that will give you around 21k.

i doubt they majorly overclocked these 6800 SLI with a score like that. stock cooling im betting, macci and arse used liquid nitrogen or phase change i beleive.

The SLI's can OC just like regular cards, they just both have to be running at the same speed, so we will eventually see some ridiculous OCs, im thinking with 2 xeons (overclocked) and 2 6800U (Overclocked to their max) and with a gig of memory we will be seeing 30k scores easily :D

im not saying they cant OC. im just saying on that particular score im betting it was either stock clocks, or oced on stock cooling. if they oced with the methods arse and macci used im betting we would see a score close to 30k

Yea, i could guarentee they are stock clocks, and still with their development drivers

yea, amazing technology in the works for Nvidia, hopefully ATi has something in the works, if not looks like Nvidia will have my $$ next.

Imagine 12 Vertex Shaders and 24 Pixel Shaders instead of 6 and 12 for normal 6800 or 6 and 16 for ultra, all getting equal increment of clock speed per shader.

im still speaking percentages. even if doubled, SLI will show 77-90% increase (theoretically), so i dont see that being a 6800NU unless its overclocked pretty big.

no doubt that nice, but im just speaking realisticly at stock speeds, stock cooling.

People who aren't used to Distributed Processing tended to make simple mistakes of assumption.

If a pixel shader op can be improved 1%, when 24 pixel shaders parallelized you get 24% efficiency gain instead of just 1%.

your not getting me. if SLI shows average 77% to 90% improvement no matter what 6800 you use (based on percents given to us). so if you take the 6800NU's average 3dmark score which is around 8-9k. so you would probally see around 15k to 17k on stock speeds, stock cooling, on SLI. im just speaking theoretically/realistically, i dont get what your saying. like i said if these were OCed 6800NU's i could maybe see them hitting 21k.

anyways we shall see if this is a 6800U/6800GT/6800NU soon, so dont fret.

Of course I got what you said, 77 to 90 is for a given co-efficient.

SLI performed more per clock than single board version.

so do you honestly see a SLI 6800NU's getting 21k on 3dmark03 at stock speeds, on stock cooling? that would be over a 100% increase.

That isn't what I said, I said 6800NU SLI will overclock very well from greater ops per clock than any single board version.

20Mhz increase of 6800U isn't the same as 20Mhz increase of 6800NU SLI.

wtf, this whole time you were talking about the NU?
err...this score is obviously not on a NU why bring it up? i was talking about a Ultra the whole time.

wouldnt the SLI Ultra benifit more than the SLI NU more because it has 16 pipes?

I was not confused.

I prefered the beauty from the power of 2 :D, Besides, Ultra is just slightly over much power density requirement for my taste. I foresee 6800NU SLI in my future.

the fuck are you talking about. i asked a simple question and you say its not your taste? im saying 2 6800U's and 2 6800NU's. not one and two. im saying wouldnt a SLI setup of TWO 6800U's be more benifiticial by overclock than a SLI setup of TWO 6800NU's becuase of the 16 pipes? theres no opinion in that question. its a yes or no answer.

yes, happier now? :D

wouldnt you have to have the exact same oc on both cards for sli mode so it works right? or am i just talking shit

Probably. It seems logical. Asymmetrical chips would be pita to work with.
