Sorry guys but i've been out of the builders market for about 5 years now...I'm interested in knowing if one can run dual monitors with an SLI setup ..one monitor for the game and one for Desktop to monitor and manipulate TeamSpeak/GameServerClient/etc.

For some reason I thought one couldnt. About 3 years ago I recall a conversastion that an SLI rig precluded the use of a second monitor. maybe that was so back then but is that the case now?

In the past you couldn't do it, but now you can. I am running 3-Way SLI with 3 Geforce GTX 280 cards and I have two monitors. I no longer have to go through the hassle of enabling or disabling SLI to use the second monitor. The second monitor remains active while I play games.

Fabulous! I just had a feeling technology would prevail
Thnx Dan

BTW What motherboard are you running those 3 280's on?

the dual displays was fixed in the beta versions of 180.xx drivers about 9 months ago.. and they also fixed being able to turn SLI on and off without having to restart your computer as well.. it only took nvidia about 2 years to figure it out.. since ATI's always supported it..

Lol, Get yer shots in while you can eh SirMonkey...;)

Both my sons swear by AMD/ATI... technologically I'm still getting used to the fact that Big Blue doesnt necessarily mean IBM...

ATI has not always supported enabling or disabling Crossfire without a restart. Additionally Crossfire also didn't support dual monitors until about a year or more before NVIDIA's SLI technology did. (I don't remember the exact time frame ATI began to support this.)

You are welcome. :) Currently I am running the EVGA X58 3X SLI Classified.
