I am trying to put together a dual loop setup and I want each of the loops to feed off of a single res. If I had it setup right you think it would work or would it be better to just separate everything out? IE no sharing of parts.
expect 1000 replies about how that is not really a dual loop. OK now that thats over with I think I know what you want to do. More details about what you are cooling would be needed to really give you an answer.
Due to how well water conducts heat the temp of both loops will rapidly stabilize to one overall system temp due to the water mixing in the res. If each "loop" was cooling about the same amount of heat load it would not be a big deal, carry on. However if one loop say had just your CPU, say an overclocked c2d putting out somewhere around 100W of heat and the other loop was for a couple of 8800's in SLI putting out over 200W , that would be bad, your 200w loop would heat up the 100W loop. So if you can balance the components in the loops no big deal.
That said, WCing if you have sufficient rads decent pumps etc works so well you can mess around and do about anything and it will work decently. However what you are proposing is not normally done, 2 completely separate loops or one big loop, with typically one big loop easier to install, less expensive and works just as well unless you are up to something super extreme.

Now I want each loop to feed into and off of one single EK Multires 250mm (or something similar). I want to put the res in between the two motherboard trays in the case.
I am not 100% worried about performance here i just think it would be pretty sweet to have both the pumps loop into the same res. Since the case is a 2 in one kinda deal I want to follow the same theme with my water cooling system. 2 semi-seperate loops but yet one at the same time.
ahh, hmm lots there to think about. As I said about anything will work well and it sounds like you have a unique situation where for convience and other factors it might be the way to go. Bottom line, you cant really hurt anything and at worst you break the loop and put in another rezz. I say go with it, all it will take is some spare tubing and time if it does not work out, and it will be fun to give it a go.
