Dual display settings

This is probably a driver issue so I'm putting this thread here.

I'm trying to configure a dual display the way I used to have it set up. 2 desktops, each on one of the displays, so that if you maximise a program it maximises to the display/desktop it's on.

Using my 6800GT though it doesn't work like that. It gives the options for A) a cloned display, not much good or B) a spanned display, where the desktop spans both the screens. this isn't much good either - programs maximise across both displays, and dialogue boxes popup right in the middle, ie half on one and half on the other!

Any idea how I can use the nvidia drivers (or any other software) to configure dual displays the 'normal' way?

Cheers

ultramon does not do that...

You need to go to nView display settings and set the nView display mode to dualview. This will treat the 2 displays as 2 desktops

You also might go to tools and run the Display Optimization Wizard... See if that fixes it...

What do you mean Ultramon does not do that? I have two monitors, and I can have a window maximized on each window, or I can force it to spread across them both, or swap it from one to the other, as well as a taskbar at the bottom of the second one. Maybe I misunderstood what he was wanting.
