Dual Core USB issues?

I have a brand new Dell Precision 380 with a Pentium D 3.0 Ghz processor. My company uses a custom USB 1.0 device. Only on this system, when the device is accessed by our in-house program, the entire system locks up. Tried reinstalling drivers, all the usual suspects, and it just locks up no matter what, and the lockup makes our device act very strangely, constantly restarting. Has anyone else out there had issues with dual core processors or the 380 and older USB devices?

I wouldn't blame this on the dual core, I'd lean more towards the mobo in that system. Call Dell and see if they have a newer BIOS version for that puppy.

You could also check the BIOS and disable USB 2.0 support. That might help to stabilize Windows while accessing the older device.

Also, make sure you have all your Windows Updates done. There may be one that fixes some strange USB issue someone else had with a similar custom device.
