Just wondering what the deal with dual core processors is now that the 4ghz processor has been cancelled and intel is moving towards developing dual core processors instead. Does anyone know what the difference is between the both or have any links explaining them?
 
with dual processors allows you to do more without slowing down.
 
The diffrence is the dual core cpu's are basically 2 cpu's on one chip.. It will basically allow you to have a dual processor system on a motherbord with one cpu socket and so on..

Theoretically, but it would suck. The Xeon system architecture uses a shared memory bus. That means that all eight Xeons would get a single memory controller to work with. Even if it were quad-channel DDR2-800, you'd still be short on bandwidth.
 
2 cores, yeah imagine cooling a 2 core prescott. I saw that new water cooling unit that Intel is putting out. Wonder the watt/PSU a 2 core is going to need...
 
I estimate just over 200 watts power dissipation, and a draw of about 18 amps on the 12 volt line for the processor alone.
