Dual-Core Games?

I would imagine this is a better topic for the gaming subforum, but I did a quick google search and got this:

64-Bit Games
1. Farcry - 64Bit - availible as a patch
2. UT2004 - 64Bit - demo(linux), patch(linux), patch(windows) and review(windows)
3. Shadow Ops: Red Mercury- 64Bit - Binaries on CD - review
4. Riddick - 64Bit - Binaries on CD - Official Site
5. WW2 Tank Commander - Binaries on the CD
6. Half-Life 2 - Automatically updates to 64Bit if you are on Windows X64

Dual Core Optimised
1. Call of Duty 2
2. City of Villains
3. Quake 4
4a. World of Warcraft
4b. Age of Empires III
4c. Black & White 2
4d. Peter Jackson’s King Kong
4e. The Movies
4f. Battlefield 2 & Battlefield 2: Special Forces
4g. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced
4h. Warfighter
4i. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3
4j. Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland

Here's a link to the original thread on the forum I found it on. Mind you, it was last edited almost a year ago so not complete, but gives you a small idea.

Do you know if there is any major improvement in performance in x64 then 32?

I do not know much about the x64 stuff, as I'm still using my good ol' Pentium M, so not too much about dual core either.

But, game developers are really suppose to start pushing out games with multi-core optimization. If that is just dual cores or not, nobody really knows yet.

Nobody seems to know about 64-bit... I've been wanting to test it out and see but I don't know if I should or not.

thank you for the info and link...

but the entries for 4g and 4h look suspicious.......:p

A big reason not a lot of people are using x64 for gaming at the moment is the rather small list of games that work in a 64bit environment. Not to mention you also need to hope you can find all your drivers for Windows x64 as well.

edit:

I didn't throughly read through it before I just copied and pasted. So yes it does seem that they are suspicious ;). I also forgot to put the last part of the post, F.E.A.R. is supposely optimized for both 64bit and dual core.

The performance may not increase, but if a game is not written with dual core processors in mind there can be problems. Google "Benny Hill Effect" for more info.

64-bit is unused because hardly anyone has a 64-bit OS.

Dual-core is unused because games are already GPU-limited and many don't even fully tax a single core.

Some good dual/quad core games coming soon. Supreme Commander out in February runs 35fps on Core 2 6800, 53fps on quad core QX6700. Review says it stresses CPU first, Memeory second and GPU third.

Alan Wake due soon won't run on less than dual core and Vista.

Crysis now delayed to later in the year.

Where do you see that Alan Wake is due "soon?"
