dual chips question?

A friend gave me a mobo with 2 P2 CPU's on it, I am guessing that it is some sort of earlier dual chip set-up but my question is, if I have 2 individual P2 chips say theye are rated at 533mhz on one mobo, how fast will it be?

533MHz each. :p And I think you meant P3.

It depends on what you want to do with it. To run the usual desktop apps it might be a bit sluggish, but it should work. My brother has a dual 500MHz Xeon media server running Windows Server 2003 and I think it's kind of slow.

There's probably a lot of uses you can find for it. Just remember that single threaded apps run just like a single 533MHz processor if you're not multi-tasking.
 
I was just using the 533mhz as an example, I have no idea what the speeds are, the freind of mine gave it to me and garunteed that it would post and do what it is supposed to do.

anyway ya I would really like to get into the distributed computing racket but I have a million other things on my plate right now. the main reason that I am asking about this is because I met this younger fella at work and he is pretty bright with computers and esspecially the math end of it all but his machine is really out-dated and I am thinking about sending it his way but I dont want to hand him a machine that is going to hamper and hinder him.
