Dual Channel RAM Question

Hi all,

I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe with 2x 256MB sticks of Twinmoss RAM running in Dual Channel Mode.

If I want to upgrade the RAM to 1GB will I be able to add 1 x 512MB into the remaining slot and still have it all in Dual Channel Mode or do I need to get 2 x 512MB sticks?

It will run in dual channel only if the amount of mem in both "channels" is the same. if you want to do a gig then you can put a 512 stick in one channel and 2x256 in the other channel. since you already have 2x256
 
My P4P800 manual said that any combination of any 3 dimms will result in single channel.... are they on the same chipset?
