If you put dual channel memory in a board that doesn't support dual channel will the memory still work?

Also, I don't know what 2t or 1t means. All I know is that you use 2t when you fill all four mem slots on a board. Is this correct? What does it mean? Do you have to configure the board in any way when you use all four slots?
