Hey all, im lookin for some helpfull insite to a problem ive run across when using dual channel in both of my IS7s.
Heres the situation, Over the last month or so i have been trying to find a memory combination that would work in dual channel @ 220 mhz or better.
So far ive run through two different sets of 2x512 Mushkin PC3500 Level 2 Black that would not even post past 222 mhz even with super loose timings and would error out in Memtest86 at anything over 214 mhz in dual channel and 2-5-2-2 timings. However, when i test each stick individually they both would post and run up to 225 mhz, error free with those same timings.
I thought maybe it was the mushkin, so i swapped it out for two 512 sticks of Corsair XMS PC3500 C2. By itselft One of the sticks runs 233mhz 2-5-2-2 without a sweat. The other stick, on its own, does 225 with those same timings. When i put both sticks into dual channel mode they at least post when pushed over 222 mhz, unlike the mushkin. But when i get up to 216 mhz in dual channel and with the same timings i used on them each individually, i get errors in memtest86.
From what little research ive done i wouldnt be suprised that its just an incompatibility in the memory when running it in dual channel. But, i was curious if it could be the two Is7's that ive used it on, and if the incompatablility could be attributed to mobo.
At any rate, if anyone has had this same problem, or one similar and found a way around it I would like to hear about it...
