hi, i recently upgrade to an abit av8, but have stuck with my old 266 1gb (2x512) of memory.
i'm now thinking of swapping that with another gb (2x512) of 400 memory.
this is probably a dumb question, and i think i know the answer to it, but if i tried to combine the two, i.e. have the 266 modules in one pair of colored ram slots, and the 400 in the other differently colored pair of slots, both are going to run at 266 right?
in other words, for most apps, i'm better off just removing my old gb right?

What's the FSB of your CPU? if it's 133 having the newer RAM instead of the older one won't really make a difference, but having 2gb as opposed to 1gb will.

I would get rid of the slower memory. Unless you have a specific app that is making you keep 2 GB, than I would sell the slower memory and keep the faster.
