I am looking for advice on a good bang for buck dual card setup. I can red team or green team. I have looked around a bit and right now this looks like a good card in crossfire and a good deal right now.

I am open to any advice on a better dual card setup in a similar price range or if you happen to know of a good sale that's good to. I will be gaming at 1920x1200 with the setup in my sig.

Either is good, nice that with the 6870's you get Shogun 2 free.

I do like the idea of the game but the 6870 only allows 1 rebate per person where the 460 allows for 2. I figured the difference in cost, taking into account the rebates, is about $80 more for the 6870 setup but you get the game(s). In dual card I think the 6870 is faster but not sure.

Looks like the 6870 crossfire will do better, but I believe the 460's overclock much better and can close the gap

I dunno. I'd probably take 6870s over 460s if I didn't have to choose based on price. However, with those 460's at ~$125 after MIR vs the 6870s and 6850s at much higher prices, I'd go with the 460s. The 6870s wouldn't be such a bad deal if you and a friend happen to want Shogun 2, but I wouldn't value it at more than $20.

Thanks for the info. I was leaning towards the 460's and see what kind of oc I can get out of them.

What's your maximum budget?

6870 x2 would have made me more confortable. Mind you that in either case your 750W psu will be pulling hard among these dual cards and the OC'ed 2500K.

I didn't see how much shipping fee for the 6870 of your choice... free shipping?
(check your shopping cart)

If it's the case, place two separate orders. Apply the 2nd rebate with a different address (you can cover the original shipping address info on the invoice before making a photocopy, or "edit" a new address...) They only limit ONE rebate per Address, if the 2nd rebate has a different address and invoice number then it's ok.

I have a hx850 in the mail.

When I asked about this months ago, seeing obvious benefits, like two 6850's/460's smoking 580 GTX for almost half price, people advised against it... Studdering and what not so I went for single card. 6950 to 6970 flash. It's been all I hoped for.

I have never seen the problems as some have.

Would a single card do?

I might add in the a single GTX 580 1.5GB model would give you all you want at 1920 x 1200. The prices on these cards are starting to fall.
My son has a P55 system with a Ci7 at 3.9 GHz and a single GTX 580 and he has never complained about any of his games. He plays Starcraft2, any COD and occasional Crysis all at maximum.

I would choose the HD 6870s if I had to, based on what I've read, primarily for the lesser power use.

Darn it Magoo, you made me cancel the order to think about it. I might say thanks in a bit.

Oops........sorry. Hehehehe......

A couple of weeks ago I would have said it was an easy choice, but with the 580 prices falling, it ain't so easy now.

You are making a careful well thought out decision, so no matter what, you'll be fine.:D

Ended up ordering the 460s again after more debating. Seems like a good price for good performance and they shipped so no more changing my mind lol.

confused - op, why you going to 2x gtx 460 if you already have a gtx 570?

I decided I wanted to run sli but did not want to have the $$$$ invested in two 570s. I sold the 570 for a good price and now will have more performance for less money than one 570. I will keep these for a year or two then get the best bang for the buck dual cards at that time.
