Dual-booting Vista and XP after restoring from disk images

I have two Acronis disk images of fresh, full installs (i.e., all my programs and games installed, all tweaks made) of both XP and Vista sitting on a partition. I wanted to dual boot with them by placing Vista on C: and XP on D:, but from reading a few of the links on Google, you have to install Vista and then use a program to install XP for dual-booting.

Is there any way I can set up a dual boot by restoring my images to their own partitions? Some kind of edit to Vista's bootloader?

I think the easiest way to accomplish this is to use a 3rd party boot loader.

I'd also look into a way of converting the disk image to a virtual machine, and using XP that way, instead of dual booting, but that's just my preference.
