I currently have an 80 gig hard drive split into two partitions, one with windows and another as storage and then a second (third) drive for storage. Is there any way I can split the first partition of the 80 gig with windows on it into two partitions so i can install linux on it?

yes, use partition magic to split the partition. be careful, i have messed up my system before with that program. and if you move partions to different blocks, it will move ALL THE DATA, so a 40gb partition that is filled with data, means it will move 40gb of data, which could take all night.

Yeah, Partition Magic is awesome....that will do it no problem. Not a bad idea to backup your data anyway, just in case.
