Hey guys,

I'm quoting myself from my thread in the HTPC forum and thought this thread might be better for my question:

"Hello All,

I have been an avid reader of [H]ard Forums for a long time and just now registred to ask for advice from all the very knowledgeable people in these rooms.

I have an HTPC built from a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H board, Antec Fusion case, etc. At first, I just used it for Blu-ray playback, Web surfing, music, etc. But since the Auzentech and Asus DTS-MA/True HD cards have been a bust, I bought a stand alone Blu-ray and use that I now for movies. Oh I will still play Blu-rays on it when they have a DD or DTS soundtrack, but use the stand alone for HD audio movies.

Now I have decided that I want to game on it. I have and HD 4850 with a DuOrb that I plan to install and that shouldn't be a problem. However, I'm concerned about sound.

The onboard Realtek sound has DTS Connect and I use it to play music in 5.1 via Toslink to my Onkyo SR-876. I have read that DTS Connect will work to play games in 5.1.

Is this true?

The other alternative is to run analog cables to my Onkyo inputs for 5.1. I know this question has been asked but know one seems to say if DTS Connect will work in games. Many people say it's great and works for music and is better than analog cables, but have yet to find anyone talking about their gaming experiences with DTS Connect.

Thanks for any input. Oh also, I have been looking for a good HTPC keyboard that will work good for gaming. I have seen a few but so far, meh. Anyone have suggestions? If not, I will probably just buy an XBOX 360 Wireless Controller."

Thanks again,

Marc

DTS Connect does just that. Allows for games, and other non encoded sources to play via digital cable in 5.1 (DD or DTS).
