I currently have, though it died a couple days ago, a Canon A80. I am in a interesting position becuase I have the BB return thing, which means I will be getting a new A95.
I was wondering though, due to me finding limitations in my camera now, if it would be worth selling the A95 and getting a used 300D?
If not a 300D, is there a camera in the 600-700 range that would be better?
Canon only, I don't want to invest in two brands worth of glass.

I'd say yeah...upgrade. You may be able to get a 10D for around that price, but just remember that you'll need at least one lens.

SLR's make for an exensive hobby.

I would just blow the money on random stuff like PDA's and whatnot, might as well put it into something worthwhile.
Is there any good and reputable sites that have forums and whatnot for used cameras?

yeah, a much older Minolta SR T101
SR T101
I'm not a big fan of film due to its price, it was my grandfathers, so I got it about 5 years ago and did lots of stuff with it, but film and college = kinda pricy.
Great for night shots, shutter will stay open as long as you hold the shutter down.

yeah, i was just wondering if you had any slr practice. i find it's easier to get an understanding of things using film and then it makes it a lot easier for digital.

Relatively cheap, too, to get an old SLR and learn with it. That's particularly the case with the old manual ones (I'm still intimidated by all the auto features on my D-Rebel!)

I've gone through 4 PDAs in my lifetime ... first a Palm IIIe in 1999, then a IIIxe, then a Vx, and now I currently own a Sony Clie SJ22....I must say every one of them has been a relative waste of money compared to the enjoyment and satisfaction I get out of taking pictures, and I am thinking of selling my Clie because I never use it. Or, I use it so little that the battery runs out and all my data is lost. As far as the PDAs, I've since moved back to good old paper.

misanthrope -- KEH has a nice used lens section, and there are busy Buy and Sell forums over at Photography-on-the.net and Fredmiranda.com.

Oh, by the way, I think the D60 is a more capable camera than the 300D (Digital Rebel), and they are about $600-$700. Personal opinion. I dunno about getting a 10D for that price though ...maybe $850 for the body only if you're lucky.

The logic in that is a little unstable ... once the OP learns with a film SLR, what is next? "Oh, I'm done learning. That was fun. Now onto modding cars." No! :p The OP is going to want to keep learning so he's going to end up getting a DSLR sooner or later. Better sooner, so he doesn't spend $150 on a film body and then another $750 on a digital body. Better just to get the digital body and start from there.

Unless, of course, he decides it's not for him. I think it's a reasonable option, considering how much less money you're putting down at first.

Well, maybe, but he can always sell the digital camera back at a price similar to where he bought it (but he could with film as well).

I already own a film SLR, so that point is moot :D

you can get the 10d for really cheap
sell more of your assets to get a good lens (50mm 1.4 is good for practical use)

Went ahead and got a used 300D on FM forums, came with a average 28-80 EF lens, will be looking into some better glass when monies come around.
